If we said “Emirates, Lufthansa and Delta Air Lines” and asked what they have in common? Extremely low prices? Just joking. No, the common denominator for these three carriers is size. We would like to present for you three airlines which belong among the giants of the aviation industry and point out to you that even in case of low-cost travellers they do not have to be completelly out of reach.
We start off with what from our perspective is the most exotic of these three carriers, that is to say Emirates – the national airline of Dubai. With its mixed fleet consisting of aircraft of type Airbus and Boeing this middle-eastern carrier covers over 100 destinations on six continents Emirates are rightly associated with luxury and prices beyond the budget of most travellers. The lavish splendour on board that many of us know from the ads showing the first class does not exactly make many us think that one day we may end up on board an Emirates airplane. Whereas in fact Emirates do not have to be out of the question. A couple of examples from the last months: Introductory fare: Prague – Dubai from CZK 9952/ circa euro405 for all-inclusive returns. Example number 2: a bit over euro200 for airfares between Asia/Africa Dubai. Thirdly, airfares from Dubai to a number of destination in Asia and Africa for less than euro200. And last but not least promo flights from British airports (e.g. LHR) to Dubai from £369, again for return. Not exactly the Ryanair kind of airfares but affordable given the routes and service. So, it pays off to be a patient deal hunter.
Delta Air Lines
From the Middle-East we jet off to the United States the country of origin of Delta Air Lines. This airline carriers an immense number of passengers with its fleet of almost 1000 aircrafts (owned and leased, as of June 30,2010). Delta may not have the same kind of image of a luxurious airline as Emirates but is no low-cost by any standard. Again, it does not have to mean that a proficient deal hunter cannot spot reasonable fares. Examples: Fares from Atlanta to Memphis, Tuscon or Milwaukee from $ 44. Flights to Europe? No problem, the USA – Spain from $ 299 exclusive of taxes. The other way around? Prague to New York CZK 16024/ euro654 (In this case the airfare includes taxes and charges.)
Of these three carriers it is the German Lufthansa that appears to suit the pocket of the average traveller best. Let us take a look at some exemplary promo airfares from the last months and weeks. Let us start with long-haul: Frankfurt to Tunis and Casablanca from euro299 or Dusseldorf New York from euro469. These fares seems to fall into the same kind of price category as Delta but bear in mind that in case of Lufthansa these are all-in fares returns! If you on the other hand do not plan to fly that far away and wonder which airline to choose when e.g. setting off on a weekend getaway, we have got some good news for you – if your luck is in, you can get hold of quite accessible European airfares and fly with Lufthansa across the Old Continent. Unless you consider euro99 for return all-inclusive tickets from e.g. Berlin to Paris to be a fortune, Lufthansa in spite of being a traditional carrier may be really affordable.
We hope this short article has provided you with some inspiration and given some idea about the carriers in question. Good luck deal hunters.
